In the struggle to hear and witness great rock and roll sometimes you don’t even need to leave your home town! Such was the case for the Rocker Chic Danette and I this past weekend when we got an absolute thrill seeing both Scotty Austin (formerly of Saving Abel) along with The Other LA at nearby Brookstock Events in Dover, Arkansas.
Driving up to Brookstock you’d swear you’ve been transported back to the Summer of ’69 Woodstock with all the beautiful rolling hills and scenic landscapes that Brookstock Events offers its guests. But this isn’t some old hippie community you’re driving into, but rather a sophisticated state of the art outdoor venue designed specifically for your safety, convenience, and a good time in mind.
The Rocker Chic and I plunked ourselves down front and center stage with comfy chairs and cooler in tow. We had a perfect view of the large stage area complete with a state of the art sound and lighting system. With great classic rock tunes being blasted and a beautiful evening sunset approaching it felt great not having to deal with the typical concert arena ‘boogie’ in finding and battling for your seat and view.
THE OTHER LA SURPRISES
Having not heard any music of The Other LA, we didn't know exactly what to expect when they hit the stage at 7 o'clock and ready to rock!
What we heard next was a great mix of hard rock and alternative metal delivered by a talented group of individuals- each with their own unique personality.
Singer Aria Fowler was definitely the focal point of the band, bringing mysterious vibes and a tortured soul delivery that kept you focused through the entire performance. This Nashville-based band is definitely one to watch!
After a short break to hit the modern restroom on site along with a food truck and merchandise tent, the main event Scotty Austin, formerly of Saving Abel, along with his band of misfit hooligan rockers took to the Brookstock stage and delivered a blistering two-hour set of non-stop rockers and familiar hits!
Scotty Austin Delivers!!!
I swear I could probably live a whole month just off the adrenaline that this band gave off during their two-hour turbo charged performance! It literally was a non-stop riff fest under the stars and bright shining moon at Brookstock Events. The band was relentless; only slowing down once to give Scotty a chance to play a little acoustic guitar and serenade his adorning fans into the night. The band then gave a preview of new rockers from a forthcoming Scotty Austin album in the works.
Part Woodstock, part Metal Fest, and definitely every part of a good time was had by everyone lucky enough to witness it all under the moonlit sky and lighted stage at Brookstock Events in Dover, Arkansas.
